To my dearest Sprog,
I am sorry, but I cannot keep you. No matter how my heart screams and pounds against my ribcage, I cannot keep you. Tears smudge the ink quicker than my trembling hands can write. His footfall thunders in the hallway. The stairs creak.
I fell in love, but I never expected it to lead to this.
You have been my North Star in an eternal night. But I cannot keep you safe from him.
I will never love another as much as you.
Perhaps our paths shall cross again. I shall live in hope.
Love, Mum
